Synopsis: Unfamous is a dramatic coming-of-age tale about love, lust, lies and London’s urban elite. The four part series chronicles Rio Greene’s first year at Brompton University where she reivents herself in order to try and become one of the most popular people of her generation -an Unfamous. Unfortunately for Rio, her past hinders her dreams of becoming the new ‘It Girl’ when it follows her into her new life with some unfinished business.
In 2010, Shakira ‘Scotty Unfamous’ Scott began posting her debut novel ‘Unfamous, Book One’ on Facebook. Within a few months, Unfamous had become so popular that Scotty was approached by the Flourish Drama Company about adapting the first Unfamous book into a stage play. That September, Unfamous became the first production in history to sell out London’s Lost Theatre.
In 2012, Scotty signed with the Peppergrain Media Agency, moved Unfamous from Facebook to the online writing platform Wattpad, and begun posting the second book in the four part Unfamous series, Unfamous Book Two. The books continued to gain popularity, bringing in over 200,000 collective online reads on Wattpad alone and helping Scotty win the BYA Literary Arts award. The Unfamous brand expanded again and was adapted into a web series (sponsored by Defenders ENT This Is UK Rap Vol. 1), directed by Selina Osei and featuring a host of up and coming UK talent in both the cast and crew. The teaser trailer dropped in Dec 2012, hitting over 10,000 views in just under a week.
In 2013 The Unfamous web series released the visuals to the original sultry soundtrack to the show ‘We Ain’t Making Love’ -performed by Scotty Unfamous featuring Miss Vexy (available on iTunes), held a sold out red carpet premiere at the Regent Street cinema. The series proved to be as popular as the book, securing features on several media platforms, including Complex magazine, Hello Beautiful and Spiff TV. Unfamous also secured several award nominations including ‘Best Web Series’ and Scotty for ‘Best Author’ in the 2013 BEFFTA awards, Fave Web Series, Fave Web Series Ensemble and Busayo Ige (Rio) for Fave Web Series Actress in the 2013 Screen Nation Awards.
The first two Unfamous books are set to be released as a dual edition book on the 31st January 2014.
